Starlight
The late day sun set without warning
left me alone, cold, mourning,
beneath a canopy of distant lights.
The midnight moon arose with no sound
watched me lie upon the moist ground
below tree branches long bare.
Orion winked and with his wry smile,
ancient one to starlight’s child,
bent low and whispered his song to me.

This is an old poem I recently dug out.
